Quilt for Christine

Hi Everyone,

I can finally post pictures of the quilt I made for my oldest daughter for Christmas. This was quite an undertaking, but when I finished, I was really proud of it. The quilt is a kit named One Winter's Night from fatquartershop.com, but I noticed they are no longer selling it as a kit. The pattern and fabric requirements are in the Best Christmas Quilts 2012 magazine. I went to their Web site and couldn't find an older issue of this magazine. If you are interested, you can contact either of these sites for help.

There is a white spot on the bottom of the quilt in this picture. That is the sun streaming in through the window.

Enjoy!

PTI October Blog Hop

Hi Everyone,

Here is my card for the PTI Blog Hop this month. I used the color combination that is Vintage Cream, Poppy, Ocean Tides and Pinefeather. The base of the card is Vintage Cream. I tried to use it on the layer that I eventually used white, but it really wasn't working very well. Oh well, I would not use this card as one of my personal cards, but I now have a few more cards to put into the OWH box.

BTW, since we are expecting a big storm next week, I am packing up my Christmas cards for OWH tomorrow and mailing them off so that I can ensure they get to North Carolina before the snow storm hits. After all this work, I don't want to take the chance they would be late.

PTI Make It Monday Challenge

Hi Everyone,

Here is my card for the MIM this week. The challenge is to stamp the inside of the card as well as the outside. I sometimes put a smaller version of the outside design on the inside. If I get really ambitious, I also stamp the envelope, that makes it really coordinated.

Verve WCMD 2012

OperationWriteHome Blog Hop

Hi Everyone,

Here is the card I made for the World Card Making Day Blog Hop. I was trying to make something for Christmas that would be easy to replicate--and this one is definitely easy for that one. Check out Bonus Sketch #29, which is pretty close to the measurements of the card.

I used Papertrey Ink's Snowfall stamp set to create the background snowflakes. There is a narrow strip of snowflakes that can be stamped three times down the card to create the snowflakes. The trees are cut from Verve's Winter Fun Die set and the Winter Tree stamp set to match. The sentiment is also from Verve's Bright Spirit set. I love Verve stamps, they really give you a beautiful image. I've made more cards using this set. Check back next week and I'll have another beautiful Christma card made with this set.

WPlus9 Blog Hop

Hi Everyone,

I saw this blog hop from WPlus 9 this morning and figured it was a good opportunity to get out The Birds and the Bees stamp set. I had seen some of these flowers in pink in my neighborhood this year, and had promised myself to get this set out and ink it up. So this was a good excuse.

Solitary Yellow Rose

Hi Everyone,

Here is my card for the ColourQ this week: A solitary rose.

Colour Q

A solitary rose means love--either love at first sight, or--you're the one! Or it could mean someone is being frugal. You decide!!

One Solitary Rose

Hi Everyone,

I think this card doesn't even need a sentiment. Some OWH hero could send this to a significant other without any words................

Colour Q

Hi Everyone,

I used the new Natural Beauties stamp set from PTI on this card. It's an interesting combination of colors. They definitely give a fall feeling to the card. I do love the sentiment on the card, but I'm not a fan of the period at the end. I suppose I could eliminate the ink each time I stamp it.

PTI Natural Beauties

Hi Everyone,

Here is a card using both Beautiful Blooms and Natural Beauties. I used only Perfect Plum ink on the flowers, but on some of the flowers, I stamped it off first. This way, I don't have to figure out if colors go together well or not.

Yellow Roses

Hi Everyone,

Here is a card I made using the new Sweet Life stamp set from PTI. I used daffodil yellow ink and cardstock from SU. I stamped it lightly on the bottom layer, then twice on the last layer. I have now made this same card in purple and aqua. I'll have to post those here later.

Sunflowers

Hi Everyone,

Here is another take on my favorite stamp set--this time using vanilla cardstock and darker colors--Summer Sunrise, Canyon Clay, and Terracotta. This card is perfect for fall, which can't come here soon enough!!

Teal Cats Meow

Hi Everyone,

Here is another card I made yesterday. This one uses Graphic 45 paper that Elizabeth M. gave me. This paper is so super to work with--love it.

Papertrey Ink July Blog Hop

Papertrey Ink July Blog Hop

Hi Everyone,

Here is my entry into the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop today. I used Erin's card that she made for the First Aid segment of the camp. I really enjoyed all the videos that the team members made, and learned quite a few new things. Thanks, Papertrey Ink!

I am making cards for my daughter's nursing unit at a local hospital. I am making cards that they can give each other to show their appreciation and motivate each other. Great idea. So Erin's card was perfect to add to this cause. Thanks, Erin.

Papertrey Ink SAF 2012

Hi Everyone,

I only got to do one card this weekend, but I have to admit that the videos that Nichole and all the Papertrey Ink team produced were outstanding. I enjoyed watching them, and I learned quite a few new things from them. So thanks for that to everyone who contributed to the videos.

So here is my card that was inspired by Dawn McVey's video. I used Autumn Rose and Summer Sunrise inks, and of course, my favorite flower stamp, the Simple Sunflower.

On this card, I used a similar layout, but used the stamp set from Fillable Frames No. 10 to add a border inside the cutout.

More Caring Cards

Hi Everyone,

Here are more cards I made for Colleen's nursing unit. They each have a motivational phrase on them.

I'd like to take credit for this beautiful card, but I CASed it from a card I saw on Papertrey Ink made by Shelly S. She made a set of stationery using this layout, and her cards were just beautiful. Couldn't help myself.

Colour Q

Hi Everyone,

Here is my card for this week's Colour Q challenge. This card will be joining the many others that will be going to my daughter's nursing unit for the nurses to give to each other for inspiration. There are more cards that I made here.
This is another flower that I bought from Hero Arts that comes with the Sizzix framelits included with the stamps. They are such fun stamps to work with.

Caring Cards

Hi Everyone,

Here are five cards I made this morning for my daughter, Colleen's unit at work.

Hero Arts Flowers

These flowers are from the Hero Arts Floral set. They both have a Sizzix die to go with them, which is terrific. Anyway, these flowers are all colored with the same colors, but the pink background really makes it look completely different.

Vintage Vogue

Hi Everyone,

Here are three cards that are made using the same layout, but different colors. I often make several similar cards because I send them off to OWH. It's actually easier to make several cards using different colors than thinking of new layouts, colors, ideas, etc. Anyway, as you can see, it's fun to see how different colors look with the same layout.

Daffodil Yellow Daisy

Hi Everyone,

Here is my card for this week's Colour Q challenge. I love this color combination, so it's easy to think of lots of cards to make with it.

Graduation Card

Hi Everyone,

After I got home from shopping this a.m., I realized I forgot to get a graduation card, and I'm not venturing out again in this heat. I figured I could do this--his school colors are black and orange, which are not my go-to colors. Luckily, I had some black paper when I bought an assortment from PTI .Making cards for males is always a tough assignment--no bows, minimum frilly stuff. But I think this one turned out pretty great. The inside has a saying from the PTI Dreams set.
